Food 4 Thought 8/31/07

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Isaiah 26:3
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because He trust in You.

God gives peace to those who keep their minds on Him. The peace He gives passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7), which means it won’t make sense to those who don’t have it. Trusting God will give you this peace, so I encourage you to trust God for everything from the littlest of things to the biggest things. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

“If you don’t have peace of mind, then you lose pieces of your mind”

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

John 2:4

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

He works on His time, and not ours. This scripture shows us that when it’s time for Jesus to do that thing in your life, He will. Just wait on Him, don’t rush Him, nor try to work around Him. He will perform miracles in your life, but you have to learn how to be patient with Him, after all He is patient with us. No one in the Bible that was healed or blessed by Jesus got their healing or blessing right away, they had to wait on Him. So keep a song on your heart and the word in your Spirit as you wait on the Lord. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

James 2:17
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not has works, is dead.

Every person in the Bible who was healed or blessed, either reached out to Jesus themselves, or someone else reached out to Him on their behalf. We have to make the first move if we are waiting for God to do something in our lives. It can range from saying “yes” to the Lord, or stepping out on something. Only you know what you need to do, so do it. It was Peter who stepped out of the bout after he asked Jesus the question. Step out of your boat (comfort zone) and watch the Lord see you through. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Matthew 13:21
Yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Often times when we are challenged or when we are going through a storm in life we seem to want relieve our stresses somehow someway. This verse of scripture tells us that the storm is happening for the word sake, and how we need to be rooted (unmovable) within ourselves. It is easy to live right when everything is going right, but the question is can you continue to live right when everything seems to be going wrong? Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Romans 8:37
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

You not only defeat, and overcome whatever you’re faced with, but you are more than someone who defeats and overcomes obstacles, trials, test, and tribulations. It’s not by any effort on your part it’s only by God through the love of Jesus Christ. So as you look at opposition see opportunity, because God is omnipotent. He enjoys showing us who is in charge, so watch God be God in you life, and in your situation. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Matthew 11:28
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Working hard at anything can put a strain on you sometimes. This verse of scripture tells us who we ought to go to when we are at the end of our ropes, when we are ready to give up some things and some people, and when we are about to break down. Go to the Lord, do not put that responsibility on anyone else or they will come up way short every time and always disappoint you. Only the Lord gives true rest, and that is something we all need. Make some time to rest in the Lord. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Lamentations 3:25
The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.

This scripture shows us the reward of patience. It is hard to wait for God to work everything out for you, but when you wait you allow God to do God, and move on His timing which is always better than our timing. Don’t believe me? Look at the statistics for divorce, foreclosures, repossessions, unemployment, and suicide. All of these categories would be extremely low if we had more patience to wait on the Lord. Waiting on the Lord makes you, because it breaks you. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Food 4 Thought 8/23//07

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Psalm 7:9
For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.
This verse of scripture teaches us that God tests those who consider themselves to be righteous. So many times we blame the enemy for the challenges we face on a daily basis, but it’s not always him. The enemy tempts you, God tests you. Can you recall the conversation the enemy had with God about Job, and how God permitted the enemy to try him? (Job 1:6-13).

What about the time where the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by the enemy? (Matthew 4:1-11). Before every breakthrough in your life, you have to go through a period in the dark room where God develops you. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Mark
9:23
Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

We should not look at our problems but instead we should look at our possibilities. This verse of scripture says that all things are possible to a believer. Not some things, but all things. So I encourage you, to not only trust God for the major things in your life, but also for the minor things in your life. So either you trust God or you don’t. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

1 Corinthians 1:27
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things that are mighty.

Isn’t it just like God to bless you in an unconventional way? Or to manifest His glory in a way that you least expect it? This verse of scripture shows us the spontaneity of God. When God revealed Himself to Elijah it was not by the strong winds that broke the rocks that were next to him, or by the earthquake that followed the winds, nor by the fire that followed the earthquake, but by a still small voice that came after the fire (1Kings 19:11-12). So expect God to show up in your situation in a way that you least expect. God chooses the unlikely. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

1 Corinthians 13:4
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up.

Are you willing to suffer for all that you love? Well if you are then you have a characteristic of true love, if not then you have to reevaluate your love. Can you suffer and still be kind? Often times we tend to suffer but love from a distance, and avoiding something or someone that you love is not being kind. Does God avoid you or does He love you from a distance? No, He is right there with you, even when you don’t think He is.

The perfect example of love was given by Christ. He suffered a painful death out of love, and was accused and convicted by people He healed and performed miracles for. Isn’t it just like people that we help to turn around and hurt us spitefully? Love with a perfect love, which comes from above. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Romans 6:13
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.

Today’s question is how do we present ourselves? Are you being used for or righteousness or you being used for unrighteousness? Often times we obey our lust of the flesh over the fruits of the spirit, and this is what shows not only to others, but also to God. Watch what you do with the members of your body because either you represent God with it or not.

Whatever you feed more is what will grow more. If you present your members (body parts) as instruments of unrighteousness it’s because you are feeding your flesh. If you present your members as instruments of righteousness it’s because you are feeding your spirit. Which one are you feeding? Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today…

Matthew 12:33
Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

Today we are to observe the fruits (characteristics) that are on our tree (in us). There are some fruits that make the tree look good, and some that make the tree look bad. We are to find the bad fruits on our trees, and remove them. Often times we overlook the bad fruit on our tree because we focus only on our good fruit, or we are to busy looking at other trees.

I encourage you today to walk around your tree (examine yourself) and work toward removing those bad fruits. This is a life long process so it would be best to start now. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Proverbs 13:20
He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.

It is important to watch who you spend time with. This verse of scripture clearly emphasizes the power of influence among the people you hang around. You might not think you pick anything up from them, but remember there is more than just what you can see. So be mindful of the people you spend time with because they do have influence on you whether you think they do or not. You are what you hang around.

The bible says that faith comes by hearing (Romans 10:17), so if faith can come by hearing what else can? Just imagine what comes by seeing or hanging around. Even Jesus had to withdraw from His companions from time to time, and that is when He became refreshed. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Do not give up or give in, keep on aspiring to do good because God sees your hard work. Often times the enemy tries to convince us that our hard work will go unnoticed, but that is not the case at all. Sometimes you have road blocks set up to try and change your direction or delay your route. But do not lose heart because God promises to bless you in just a little while. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Here is the recipe for today…

Philippians 4:11
Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

We don’t have a need for anything but God, everything else is considered a want. When we get who we need (God) He gives us our wants (desires) according to His will (purpose for our lives). With this in mind, you will be content with whatever you already have or whatever you’re faced with knowing that God will do just what He says.

The Greek word for content in this context is âshêr (aw-share) which means to be straight. So learn how to be straight. Your days should no longer be bad, but rather good or great. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Here is the recipe for today…

Romans 4:19
And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

Quick summary: God told Abraham that He will become the father of many nations, and that his descendants will be blessed. Real simple right? The complication is that Abraham was already ninety-nine years old when God told him, and also this was suppose to happen with his wife Sarah who couldn’t have children (Genesis 17). This scripture for today teaches us that just like Abraham we should not consider our circumstances when God promises us something.

Even our circumstances obey God. We also should not look at the circumstances involving other people, because if God can move mountains He can move people. So do not factor in what you see physically with yourselves or with others. God works behind the scenes because He is our director. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

We need eachother

1. How do you feel about church being the most segregated place in the world today?
2. How are we going to fellowship in heaven if can't fellowship here as the Body of Christ?
3. What are some ways that we can break this barrier?

Saturated Saturday....

Greetings Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Well on this lovely August Saturday in VA, it has been a pretty inspiring yet challenging day for good ol' Eddie Ro. I caught the tail end of the Willow Creek LEAD conference with some amazing speakers who included: Bill Hybels, Carly Florina, Floyd Flake, Marcus Buckingham, Michael Porter, Colin Powell, and Jimmy Carter. WOW!!! With music by Kirk Franlkin and other great artists. Jimmy Carter was serious, I recommend you all to research on that brother. I want to get his book called "An Hour Before Daylight."

The last session is what put the icing on my cake. Titled THE POWER OF INSPIRATION by Bill Hybels. He basically answered four questions that he came up with, which were:

1. How much does inspiration matter?
2. Who's job is it to keep you motivated?
3. What is the best way to inspire people?
4. What would a church look like if everyone in it was inspired?

For the sake of room I will not answer those questions but you can do the research @ http://www.willowcreek.com/, I will continue to press my way to these conferences they have every year it is real empowering for current and inspiring leaders...Don't miss it!!!

Heard a great word that cut me on today from my pastor Dr. Lance D. Watson (http://www.myspbc.org/) the message was called "Treat Them Like Royalty" from a series called "How To Really Love Somebody," it made me think how I don't treat others like royalty all the time, not just some of the time. It really serves as a blessing to treat people how God treats us all the time. He preached from the text in 1 Samuel when King David sought after a descendant of his beloved fallen comrade Jonathan. All this word for today seems hard to digest, but God gives you what you can eat...Stay Encouraged Kings and Queens in Christ. Grace & Peace

Romans 4:21-22
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was able to perform.

If God promised it, He will perform it. Sometimes we grow weary when we don’t see God’s promises come in our timing, we begin to doubt, become uncertain about it, lose sight, and even question what it was that God promised us. Today’s scripture teaches us that God is consistent when performing all that He promises, and it encourages us to become strengthened in our faith.

At every opportunity God wants to strengthen our faith, and that is what this is all about. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

1 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

God does not need your approval to prove Himself. He remains faithful to us even if we don’t remain faithful to Him, can you love someone like that? God doesn’t throw it back in our faces; neither does He hold it over our heads. All He does is remain faithful. Are you faithful? Not only to God, but also to all of those who God has placed in your life? How about to your commitments, promises or responsibilities?

Good news for you today, if you are breathing you still have another chance to show your faithfulness. God gives you chances to compensate your choices. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Jeremiah 13:10
This evil people, who refuse to hear my words, who follow the dictates of their hearts, and walk after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be just like the sash which is profitable for nothing.

If you do not read God’s word then how can you hear His word? You have to get the written word before you can understand the spoken word. Your heart plans your way but the Lord determines your steps (Proverbs 16:9), and if you do not hear His words then you go off of reason (emotion), instead of a revelation (enlightenment). So draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:8). Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,

John 13:35
By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

Your inward belief has to be an outward expression. It’s not about your gifts, talents, titles, or positions it’s about love. When you truly exhibit love it represents God. This is the love considered with no strings attached. It’s easy to love those that show you some kind of love, but can you love those that don’t show you love? Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things (1 Corinthians 13:7). So show love as often as possible no matter the circumstance, by this everyone will know that you are a disciple of Christ. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

Greetings,
Here is the recipe for today...

Proverbs 20:24
A man's steps are of the Lord; how then can a man understand his own way?

We do not understand anything unless the Lord allows us to. So if He hasn’t allowed us to understand certain things, why do we try and understand it ourselves? What are our motives in trying to understand something if God doesn’t reveal it? Do we seek to feel in control? Are we in fear of not knowing the outcome? Why do we seek to try and understand everything?

What happens when we try to understand something without a revelation from God? We end up replacing God with reason. Limitation should not lead to elimination. Remember, in order to get Godly wisdom you have to retain Him in your knowledge by studying His word to get an understanding.

“We tend to use reason before revelation"

Encouragement by Eddie Ro

Trusting God in Troubled Times

I have an appetite and I want to taste His grace,
Learning how to trust Him when I can’t trace His face,
Still walking by the faith at a decent pace,
It doesn’t matter where I place as long as I finish the race,

And when times get hard I try not to worry or grow weary,
Keeping my face in His word even being tired and being teary,
Having to walk by faith because with tears I cannot see clearly,
But when I read 1 Peter 5:10 that is my motivating theory.

You can fool man, but you cannot fool God, He will judge our secrets by Christ Jesus according to Romans 2:16. Keep in mind that God is all knowing and all seeing even when nobody else is around.
